I spoke with Maria after the funeral concerning her current and upcoming needs through Christmas. First, I have to try and convey with my small words the overwhelming, amazing and heartfelt outpouring of love that Maria, her children and extended family have felt from the Resurrection Community this difficult week. They are deeply touched! They are deeply appreciative! They also understand your desire for generosity! I have seen that giving is also part of our grieving process. Some people broke down in tears when they were told they could help in some way. And she knows there are so many more people out there waiting to help. However, Maria's desire for her family this week is rest and trying to establish a sense of normalcy. She feels her kids need their usual meals and their Aunt Terry's favorite chicken dinner. WHY: Phil's sister, Terry, is a teacher in White Plains and her class is going to serve at the Grace Community Soup Kitchen on Tuesday, December 22nd. The Mayor has been invited and Maria and Terry thought it would be wonderful to have this weeks efforts directed to Grace Community Church in Phil's name.
