Basically we are asking kids to try a serving of vegetables or fruit each day of the week--Joanne has helped us by implementing different colors for each day, for example: Green for lettuce, orange for carrots, red for apples, yellow for corn, etc. For each day that the Lower School children try a new veggie or fruit we are giving them a sticker as a small "reward" for being adventurous! We are hoping that the Lunch Room Volunteers will help us hand out the stickers as we do not want to make any extra work for the Cafeteria staff or teachers. In the Middle School we will ask kids to write their name on a raffle ticket when they try a vegetable or fruit and put the ticket in a box for a drawing at the end of the week. We will do a raffle on Friday and give out Resurrection Water bottles (thank you Beth Woodtli and Irma Rodriguez!) to a handful of winners from each lunch period. Once again, we will ask the Lunch Room Volunteers to help out if necessary with collecting the raffle tickets. Why are we telling you this? Good question. No reason, other than that we wanted you to be aware of the event and maybe give a word or two of encouragement to your kids to participate...Maybe a little healthy "peer pressure" will help increase everyone's beta carotene a bit!!!
