Drugs & Alcohol: Scott Moore, Director of EMS Services for Port Chester and Rye Brook, will provide a look into drug and alcohol issues that he sees firsthand within the teen community. He will also share tips and suggestions for parents on communicating positively with their teens and helping them use good judgment. 2. Healthy Teen Dating & Relationships: Dianne DeFilippis, Teen Program Coordinator/Domestic Violence Counselor and Advocate for Hope's Door, Inc., will teach parents how to effectively speak to their teens about how to be part of a healthy relationship. She will describe different types of abuse as well as the signs and solutions, citing examples from true stories. 3. Internet Safety: Monica Vila, The Online Mom, will explore the internet world with parents. She will discuss the ever-growing use of social networking and explain what parents should be aware of, how they can identify online dangers, and what they can do to ensure that their teens are using the internet wisely and carefully. 4. Body Image: Dr. Marcie Schneider, in private practice of adolescent medicine with a focus on eating disorders, obesity, menstrual function, growth and development, substance abuse, and ADD, will discuss healthy body image, nutrition, and eating disorders. Dr. Schneider has brought her experience in adolescent medicine to several hospitals and leads lectures locally and within the medical community. She will help parents understand their role in encouraging a healthy body image and lifestyle for their teens. 5. Stress: Dr. Mark Levy, Director of the Larchmont-Mamaroneck Counseling Center (also with a private practice) will address adolescent stress and identify the pressures young adults face.
