Message-ID: COUNTDOWN TO THE MIDNIGHT RUNS! Our 8th grade students will be going on two Midnight Runs: October 28th and November 18th. They will be distributing food, clothing, blankets and personal care items to the homeless people on the streets of New York City. This late-night effort creates an environment for trust and understanding. The goal is to create a bond through sharing and caring. Midnight Run volunteers come to see the homeless as real peopole, and the homeless men and women are grateful for the much-needed items as much as the interaction with teenagers who have compassion and concerns that go beyond their own lives. This is all accomplished through donations! We are respectfully asking each grade to donate these specific items: 1st and 2nd Grade: individually wrapped cookies 3rd and 4th Grade: granola bars 5th, 6th and 7th Grade: juice boxes We are always in need of the following items, so clean out your closet's and we will be happy to take them for you!... --new or gently-worn casual clothing: dark pants (no khaki's), blue jeans, jackets, sweatshirts, sweaters --rubber-soled shoes, boots and sneakers (please no dress shoes) --blankets (as it is getting cold they will need blankets!) --hats and gloves --backpacks and sports bags --new packs of underpants/boxers and undershirts (please no socks!...we have plenty!)
